Among the issues to be solved the one of the ex-combatants is a crucial one.

Youth re-integration schemes, such as one for former child soldiers, are beginning to be implemented in some camps. It is a very delicate issue: counselling and support are needed to get these teen-aged boys to overcome the horrors they witnessed during the war. UNHCR staff are helping them to regain a ‘normal’ life: these boys are going back to school and are trying to cope with the problems that their ordeal has left them with. The house behind them is going to be their home: they will have to look after it and learn how to look after themselves while there. More former child soldiers are expected at the camp shortly.
